Default LPM "Spring" 2020

How is everyone proceeding with studying at this point (if they are)?

I stopped completely. I'm considering just getting a refund for this session and sitting for fall. Probably a dumb idea but I feel like my focus has completely shifted from the exam right now.

The SOA will let you apply your spring registration to fall if you contact them (i.e. no need to get a refund then register again). This is an option listed on their COVID page.

I'm on my second run through TIA's study videos. I'm making my own flashcards as I go and am doing drill problems once I finish a section, just trying to figure out the best way to make the material stick.

Today the SOA sent out a lengthy email with the subject "SOA COVID-19 Updates for Business Leaders” that you may have received. It provided several status updates related to SOA programs that have been affected by COVID-19. This paragraph was specific to written exams:

Quote:
Regarding our exams, we have postponed the spring written answer exam sitting to ensure the safety of everyone involved. However, we know how hard students work to prepare for their exams and how much their employers depend on them to continue making progress toward their ASA and FSA credentials. Our education staff and key volunteers are working now to prepare new dates for the spring exams. We will be making announcements to candidates about these rescheduled exams over the coming weeks and with enough time for them to be able to prepare appropriately for the exams.

The SOA has announced new dates for the spring exams. LPM is now set for July 14. Be sure to read the announcement carefully. There are a number of important details:

Here are some important dates for people to know:

SOA will re-assess the postponement or cancelation by mid-June

If no change, the result for the July exam will be released on 9/18

Registration for the Fall exam (October) ends on 9/28

To those that registered but do not want to take the exam in July, you have until 6/1 to get credit or refund

To those that didn't register but want to take the exam in July, the registration will be open from 5/19 - 26

Question that I hope isn't too out of place here: I am going to finish the Fap modules and Exam PA in June--should I jump right into studying for LPM or do you folks think I should try to do some modules before it? Assuming next LPM is October. Thanks for any help, trying to ask around

If you start studying right away in June, you would be good for October exam. Note that the LPM syllabus is supposed to change a bit for the Fall exam. But usually this change is not too drastic.

Please email me if you want to discuss further, and i'll help guide you through the study process

With the fall exam at least 6 months away, you can do either. We have plenty of people studying for the fall exam now, but I think you'd still have time to do some modules first before starting LPM for the fall. Doing the modules before LPM doesn't necessarily help your chances of passing LPM, so it's all about what you feel most motivated to do in the next couple of months.
