Or maybe Tom is just too lazy to post
Nobody is going to hire until after the Holidays. And for the valuation area, not until after the Annual statement is put to bed.

Maybe. Last year during this time frame he posted about 28 jobs though.

As someone who landed one of those 28 jobs, I can verify that hiring does occasionally happen during the holidays. I certainly wouldn't think it to be common, though.

My linked in name is FirstName LastName, ACAS. Found this in my inbox today:

Happy Tuesday!

I wanted to touch base with you quickly as I have been released a few actuarial roles and was hoping to network with you seeing as you're an accomplished and established professional within the space.

....

The opportunities range from the Pre ASA to FSA level, and are specifically looking for an actuary who is well versed within the Life and Annuities space and has experience working with GGY Axis modeling.
....
This from the same firm where the same recruiter has called me three times over the past year to (newly) introduce themselves

Maybe he thinks you can be tempted away to the dark side?

recruiters that are not specialist in actuaries do not know the difference. Mutual of Omaha really wanted to recruit me - their in-house recruiter kept InMailing me, which I politely replied "no thanks" a few times, but he persisted. I gently (ok, not so gently) suggested he learned what business he was recruiting for, and how I do not meet the requirements. Never heard from him again.

Recruiter sent me an InMail the other day for a non-actuarial position.
Just got my ASA in March, so I haven't exactly given up on actuarial...

I can quite literally see their building from the 3rd floor of mine. There's a highway between us, but its there. I digress, the recruiter goes on to say they'd love to let me know all that the city has to offer since I'm not currently in the area (mind you, I live in the same city and it says so in my LI profile)

Its nice to be wanted though.

Oh jeeze, good thing I didn't finish the FAP modules or people wouldn't have been allowed to call me for non-actuarial positions...

The part about them trying to convince you to move to a city you're already living in is pretty funny. I can do you one better though. About 6 months after I had moved to a new job, LinkedIn fully updated and everything, I received a message from the internal recruiter for the company telling me about all the great roles they have open and if I'd be interested in interviewing. I really wanted to respond just to see how awkward it would get when they found out I already worked for the company, but alas, opportunity missed.

I've had the same experience with this company (SJ); multiple recruiters from the company sending me very similar messages about the same role, the same recruiter sending me multiple introductory emails weeks apart. Anything from this company goes straight into my trash bin.
