Default MS Access on Mac

The client I am at has all their medical and drug files in access databases. They don’t play well when I xfer them to excel.

Any of the po here have a recommendation to virtually run in a windows environment Microsoft office? I have office 365 “rented” for Mac, but Access is not available. TIA!

Chalk this up as one excuse to stay with a Windows environment.

Parallels is the best one but it's not free.

I don't think the issue is your virtual windows environment. The issue is Office 365. Access is gone in 365 (we have the same issue where we upgraded to 365 and now need to create a new UI for our DBs that previously used Access). Renting Office 2010 instead of 365 may solve the issue.

Why not use software that can import the Access DB? Try software like Libre Office or Open Ofice (pretty sure would allow you to save in native MS Access formats), SQLite, or File Maker Pro.

What do you mean by don't play well?

I've never done it myself, but pretty sure it's possible to read an Access file with R. R Studio is very powerful on the Mac. Even if you don't want to analyze the data in R, you could easily output it into some basic format (e.g. comma separated) that you could then put in Excel. Any R knowledge you pick up in the process will almost certainly come in handy down the road.

General Google query:

Instructions specifically for macOS:
