Default Elder Scolls Online

I don't really keep up with the industry any more, so I just heard of this.

I got goosebumps. Signed up for Beta for the Mac, though I know I'm waaay to late to that party.

I was super excited until they announced all of these things would exist at the same time:
$50-$60 up front price for the game
$15 per month subscription fee
In-game microtransactions

They're asking too much money from me. When they eliminate the monthly fee or switch to an EVE Online* style, I will pick this up.

*EVE Online allows you to pay your monthly fee with in-game currency.

On another note, even WoW is looking at dropping their monthly sub fee in order to increase profitability.

WoW is going F2P? What are they going to sell in the game..?

I was going to sign up for the ESO beta when the form first came out, but that thing is as long as a job application so I just said F it..

From what I've read, it's not for certain. They were just looking at the possibility as a way to increase profitability. My guess would be that WoW could sell things like this (granted, it's been 3 years since I played, so modify them as appropriate).

1) Items that let you gain XP faster for a limited amount of time.
2) Items that increase the rarity of drops (could even make them instance specific), so that there's a chance you get that orange drop or stop getting that easy purple drop that everyone has.
3) Honor (do they still sell stuff using Honor as currency?)
4) Sex/race change
5) Name change (maybe they already do this?)
6) Allow you to buy tokens that you bet on PvP arenas. Like there is a 1 token entrance fee to this section of arenas, and the winner gets both tokens (this way it isn't technically gambling). Or there is a 5 token entrance fee, the winner gets 9 of them and Blizzard keeps/destroys the 10th one.
7) Mounts
8) "Keys" to instances once you've completed them for the day and they're locked for you for the day (So, you can spend money to keep running it over and over trying to get a particular drop you want)
9) An "item duplicator" that if a certain item drops, and you don't win the roll, you can spend $X and get that item as well.
10) Re-rolls on loot drops.

They should sell gold... It would put a damper of a few people, but it already runs rampant

I dropped WoW so I could play Skyrim.

If it's $60 + 15/month I doubt I'll get it. I tend to play in spurts. 10-12 hours one week then maybe an hour a week for a month then another couple days of playing then back to the hiatus.

Having kids + playing sports + going to the gym does not a video game playing schedule make.

I'll get it at some point. I really like RPGs and MMOs are fun.

But from the weekend test I did a while back I doubt I'll be sticking around too much longer after hitting the level cap. Plays a lot like GW2 so I'm guessing end-game content will be similar (terrible). Wouldn't be surprise with a sub if it ends up a lot like SWTOR (sells decent, fun leveling experience but once that's done everyone leaves and it goes F2P).

Did anyone ever get it?

Is it worth it?

I know the game is $60, but is there a monthly charge?
