Default Incurred Claims IBNR - Months of Experience?

How many months of experience should be used for the incurred claims method? Should we only trend forward from the midpoint of the most-recent 12 months, or can we all of the past experience?

I kept my answer consistent to the case study (which was in a silo of 12 months). I'm open to bring more months in, but haven't yet.

I'm starting Task 3 I'll also wait for others to give their two cents.
