FAQ says "members" and then mentions that the votes will be according to the bylaws of each organization. So it's possible that the answer will be different for the SOA vs CAS.

Guessing this would technically be akin to a bylaws change. I honestly can't remember if ASAs vote on those or not. No idea about ACASs.

If it's a strategic move to get the SOA to agree to joint prelims then it wouldn't be a waste of time at all.

No idea if that's what the CAS leadership is actually thinking... just throwing it out there as a possibility.

Would be surprised if they could get FCASs to approve. Very surprised they're even trying.

I'd be surprised if either board shoots this down, given they started it.

The CAS and SOA Boards of Directors are exploring a combination of the CAS and SOA into one new professional organization that has the scale and resources to better support our members’ efforts to shape and grow the areas in which actuaries practice.
This will come down to the membership.

ACASs do not.

ASAs, IIRC, do vote after some waiting period.

I agree... that's why my theory is that this is a strategic move to end up with joint prelims and separate organizations.

If the SOA is more pliable on joint prelims after an attempted merger, then this may well be the CASs end game.

As long as the letters don't equate to some known innuendo, I'll be okay

The parenthetical implies the latter.

Anybody recall the "vote" (not sure if there really was one, but a survey or whatever at least) count when the CAS asked about this 5 years ago?
