I'm actually optimistic at this point. I was very pessimistic 2 weeks ago as nobody was doing anything here ("it's just a flu"). I'm buying some SPY's.

China is not reporting any new local cases as of today and a few weeks ago it was reporting 1000's.
I'm also pretty optimistic, but I don't think the measures we've taken have been as drastic as China's. I think it's still going to get quite a bit worse in the next month or two here before it gets better. That said, I just upped my 401k contribution a ton to start buying stocks. Might as well get them on sale.

If China's situation was so good, then why have they not returned to work?

There's no way there data is trustworthy, they lie about their GDP.

Any base for your accusation? And why do you think other countries' numbers are trustable?

For your information, I have family and friends in China, and everyone have returned to work since this Monday.

People are still practicing social distancing there. From what I heard, Restaurants are open, but with <50% capacity, most people are packing lunch from home, everyone is wearing masks, etc. People who recently traveled and arrived China from overseas are put into mandatory quarantines (either at hotel or at home) for 14 days. So still an abundance of caution being practiced.

For completeness of the information: These are the situations that I learnt about the regions that I have family and friends at, and may not represent every single corner of the country.

Has anyone kept up the studying? I was really behind, yet it's hard to give a #&*@ right now. Have barely made a dent since the postponement was announced.

I escaped to my parents house in the suburbs early last week. Very glad I did. NYC looks primed to be the next Italy. Scary stuff.
