Otherwise I'd just move onto "trying" other games and get stuck in a world where I don't complete any games, which is extremely unsatisfying from my perspective.

At any given point I have 3 games in play and once I beat one, I roll a weighted die (based on certain underlying features of the games) to choose 5 more games, from which I'm allowed to pick one. Gives me some agency but limits me to a few games so I'm not looking at all the games in the world that I want to play when trying to make a decision. Sounds hilarious, but it really has helped me get through a boatload of games recently.

hilarious is definitely one word you could use to describe this behaviour. not sure it's the first one I'd come up with, but hey... you do you.

Most of my coworkers found it a funny way to go about things, but maybe they're just laughing to make me feel good about myself.

Then I couldn't create an pretty lady avatar for some reason. I can give her dumb forehead tattoos, but the shape of her face is stuck in unattractive mode.

Finally the story feels like someone telling me about their Crusader King's game. "We used to control a lot of the galaxy. Then we lost control of some of it because of France. Now there's unrest in the kingdom because the nobles are angry at our tax policies, and our Viscount uncle seems to be negotiating a deal with Denmark...."

Anyway, hopefully the pew-pew-pews will make up for the blandness.
I rather enjoyed it. Get through the tutorial and it becomes more fun. Then again, as a both a CK2 and MW4:Mercs fanatic, putting together mechs and lances was a lot of the fun.

I am still waiting breathlessly for MW5:Mercs

No
My introduction to Battletech was MW 2 and then EA Sport's MPBT3025.

My table top RP gaming was limited to PnP AD&D 1ed and subsequent (although nothing for the past 25 years )

I really enjoyed Frost Punk btw, very good for anyone who likes city building, but ALSO enjoys compelling story-telling and a struggle to survive.

It has some moral policy decision making along the way, but the choices aren't all that black and white, and they don't reward you too much for choosing "bad". (Admittedly I went straight for safe child labor, because it just seems obvious to me that kids should work when real survival is on the line.)

There a lot of other flaws-- too much micromanagement, games are too short, unfair/unclear quests, but I'm sure I'll go back to it anyway.
