Catholic Financial Life has an exciting opportunity for a Vice President, Chief/Appointed Actuary to oversee all of the actuarial functions for our Society. As a member of the Society's senior management team, this individual provides input into the strategic direction of the organization, actuarial, financial and risk analysis expertise, including analysis of the Society's major initiatives and potential mergers, and identifies risk or concerns from an actuarial, product, or ERM perspective.

Our Chief/Appointed Actuary:
Serves as the Society’s actuary for public actuarial opinions and certifications. Provides necessary documentation and communication to state insurance departments, auditors, rating agencies, and other industry organizations. Monitors industry regulatory developments, and determines their effect on the Society.
Oversees all of the actuarial functions for the Society – including product pricing, reserve setting, experience studies, business models, asset/liability analysis, dividend scales, actuarial reporting, and reinsurance contracts. Approves all major assumptions and procedures for these functions.
Manages the Society's actuarial staff and oversees the use of actuarial consultants and reinsurers.
Serves as a key member of the organization's leadership team.

Education, Skills and Competencies of Successful Candidate:

BS - Actuarial Science, Statistics, Math, Finance or related field.
Position requires ASA and to be up to date with continuing education requirements. FSA, MAAA preferred.
10+ years’ experience preferred with exposure to several areas of actuarial practice.
Enterprise perspective.
Experience leading technical staff.
Experience as an Appointed Actuary or Valuation Actuary preferable.
Must have strong knowledge of financial products, regulatory requirements, actuarial principals and current practices.
