Actuarial FCAS salary could be set at $40/ three-weeks work (see below)

I THINK that many (not most, but many) actuaries would suggest that actuaries not be paid hourly anyhow. My estimate would be $40 gross pay (including bonuses) per 3 weeks of contract work as an FCAS, where once you finish that 3 weeks pay, it is up to you to find a new opportunity elsewhere.

Hypothetical example (steps):
1) You are FCAS with reserving or predictive modeling skills

2) You actively seek opportunity to calculate reserves for company in Des Moines.

3) You find a company needs reserving for 3,493 Clients. They offer you $40 pay lump sum over 3-week period if you satisfy the contract and complete roles and responsibility (including that your work permanently improves the organization as a whole by more than $X,XXX Dollars as agreed upon in contact.

4) You complete work.... collect the $40 3 weeks later

5) Now you must find a new job opportunity for a new contact.....otherwise you must live off savings on the $40 (less taxes).

6) Repeat cycle

even by your standards, this is somewhat incomprehensible.

congratulations, I think

There was an actuary named Bonjangles and he made a living going from one 3-week longpredictive modeling contract to another..... then they gave him his $40 and bought him a few drinks on the side.

A couple times he worked from 4AM to midnight 21 days in a row and drank 5-hour energy every 5 hours.... and he was sober as it gets....

but because of his Puritan faith..... like a good child of the Lord.... he realized he left something out of a memo and self-assessed that he did NOT meet the minimum requirements of the contract.... so he had to do another Module Exercise..... I mean another contract with another company... to get the $40.

The contract then was handed over to a "Roman Pagan".... one of the last descendants of an anti-"Constantine the Great" Roman....he just copied Bojangles word for word (in the old school of thought...copying the masters was more important than "unnecessary invention") .... and assumed Bojangles' identity and self-assessed as Meets Minimium Requirement..... but his work was DNMMRed by the company, hahahahahaha

so Mr.Bojangles made the right move afterall. But during his struggles he did find a way to live off the $40.
