Default Which manual to use?

Hi I'm not sure if I want to take this exam in November, since I only have about 3 months for preparation but I'll strongly consider it.
My main question is, is ASM manual enough with ADAPT towards the end.
To learn the material, do I really need to get the Derivative Markets textbook that everybody seems to have?

Depending on your study habits and the amount of time you have to study, three months can be enough time. Start studying now and see how you feel about it when the registration deadline comes closer.

Yes, ASM/ADAPT is sufficient.

No, you don't need to get the text. The ASM manual follows it pretty closely, but it also orients things more towards the exam (where the text does not).

There are plenty of threads discussing the merits of particular study programs and manuals. Use the search function to find them.

I'm thinking of trying to learn the MFE material by my self. I guess the challenge is that financial derivative was really hard for me to understand fully when I prepared for course FM and now I can barely recall much of it.

My plan A was to take a college finance course on derivative as well as a MFE prep class next spring. However by preparing the course by myself I no longer need to take these two classe, which reduces some course load and I can have more fun

Therefore I think I'll buy an earlier version of actex/asm manual to give it a shot... I'm not planning to write the exam soon, maybe after MLC I think.

But my concern is whether earlier version of study manuals is still reliable?

Yeah I hate wasting time so I want to take this quick but then again, rushing can be dangerous since it can result as a fail.
I'm not sure. I don't want to wait until March.

Has the MFE syllabus change at all since last year?
Is it perfectly fine to use the ASM 9th edition 2nd printing?
I've been wondering what's with the different printings?
When they come up with a new printing, does that mean it just fixed some erratas?
