1. Graphs were way cooler 100 years ago - almost works of art.
2. Love the "English Marks" graph that "proves that girls have much more ability in English than in arithmetic".

Well, the graphs generally were hand-drawn. There's a bit in the presentation where he explains some of the rules relate to talking with engravers

Here's a cool graphic that can display lifespan and income by country over time, sliced and diced various ways. It shows how much wealthier and healthier the world is now than it was even a few decades ago.

http://www.gapminder.org/world/#$majorMode=chart$is;shi=t;ly=2003;lb=f;il=t;fs=11 ;al=30;stl=t;st=t;nsl=t;se=t$wst;tts=C$ts;sp=5.592 90322580644;ti=2013$zpv;v=0$inc_x;mmid=XCOORDS;iid =phAwcNAVuyj1jiMAkmq1iMg;by=ind$inc_y;mmid=YCOORDS ;iid=phAwcNAVuyj2tPLxKvvnNPA;by=ind$inc_s;uniValue =8.21;iid=phAwcNAVuyj0XOoBL_n5tAQ;by=ind$inc_c;uni Value=255;gid=CATID0;by=grp$map_x;scale=log;dataMi n=194;dataMax=96846$map_y;scale=lin;dataMin=23;dat aMax=86$map_s;sma=49;smi=2.65$cd;bd=0$inds=;exampl e=75

hmm, there must be a better way to point to it...

When I click on the link to the chart, I don't see anything but a bunch of uninformative code/text. Is it me? Do I need a twitter account to see it?
