The ones where you said, and I'm paraphrasing, that you don't feel emotions.

that post didn't seem all that emotional to me. seems like a conscious decision to love someone.

How is that inconsistent with his post in this thread? This one was all about love being a verb, a choice or series of choices, rather than it being an emotion.

I was surprised at how insightful that is, coming from BRM.

I was heavily involved in the church youth group as a teen, and I remember many discussions about love. BRM's notion of luv being a verb isn't exactly novel. Indeed, it was a focal point of all our discussions about conducting healthy romances and relationships. The idea of being "in love" was heavily discounted, because that stuff fades, only God's love is forever, humans disappoint each other, and if you're expecting the butterflies to last forever, your relationship could be on the rocks during the lean times.

I think there's a lot of merit in those ideas. I've come to feel somewhat cool about the broad brush they painted with, saying that no one, ever, could possibly be in love for their entire life. I think some lucky few can do that. But by and large, of all the church's teachings I've discarded, much of what I learned about "love " and "in love" has stuck with me.

I don't know what that last part means, but I feel like I was just insulted.
