I expect a lot of units sold no matter what.

Is there anything improved over prior, or is taking away the headphone jack the only "improvement"?
The 7+ made a pretty big leap with the camera going duel lens but I have no idea if there much other than a faster chip in the standard 7.

I guess if you are going to gamble on taking away the headphone jack, doing it in a cycle where you weren't really changing much might make sense. I could see this actually boosting Iphone 6s sales to people who want a new Iphone but don't want to lose the port. Basically the college humor bit.

A bunch of iPhone users told me today that they want the new one.

It's supposed to have much better battery life, in addition to a new improved phone jack.

They'll sell an average number of iPhone 7, I think. I bet they will sell a hell of a lot of those Bluetooth 'AirPods' for $159. I had an Apple Fanboy at work today (not an actuary) tell me he had been waiting a long time for Apple to make them. He said he hated the wires getting in his way on his morning jogs. (I don't think he knows Bluetooth headphones have been available for years.) I imagine there are lots of people like him out there.

Let's not forget that there are tens of millions of people who think Donald Trump would be a great president. There are likely also millions who would buy a brick with he Apple logo on it.

Also, next year will be the ten year anniversary of the iPhone. It will probably have a special name (not iPhone 7s)... maybe iPhone X? They probably held off on this year's phone so they could do a major redesign next time. That's my guess anyway.

lol keep the butthurt to Politics

I would gamble that the vast majority of people who wait in line for iPhones (or anything else really) vote Democrat

I agree w/ the notion that it'll sell pretty averagely. The brand loyalty is strong enough. But the phone itself is not innovative or interesting enough to sway much of anyone else.

My $160 Huawei is fast and solid and I'm not on payments until the end of time. That's the next step imo; making phones that are good but not so expensive.

Cars are going this way, y'know.

Do you think they'll pass up the opportunity to turn the 8 into an infinity symbol?

leave it to Samsung to make their 7th phone burn and explode

http://www.wsj.com/articles/samsung-...all-1473777044
Quote:
The South Korean technology company [Samsung] said early this month that it is recalling 2.5 million waterproof, large-screen smartphones in 10 countries and other markets where the device had been shipped, citing faulty batteries that have led to some exploding while charging. Some 11 days later, the South Korean company had yet to set a specific timeline in important markets such as the U.S. and Canada on when consumers can get a replacement phone.
