If you're so far from qualified for an actuarial job that you are looking at a clerical job as a stepping stone, you're pretty far off, and I'm not sure you're going to get there. But more likely*, you're not far enough away that this is a good stepping stone, and you should be looking at a stepping stone that is a little closer to the actual goal.

*especially in light of your comment that you were final round at a consultant, which I take as meaning you were pretty close to getting the job.

I see... I probably won't waste my time then and focus on the exams and finding an analyst position.
