My initial playing around last night was a big dud. Nothing was working, Netflix and Plex didn't play anything. Rebooted it and then everything worked fine. I could not try Amazon streaming because I share Prime with my GF, never even realized I didn't get to stream video that way. Will logout and login with her account this weekend to try it.

Interface is very fast, intuitive, no stuttering at all, flies through everything. Voice search works great. Remote is responsive and has all the buttons you need (I'm look at you AppleTV). I didn't buy the controller so I haven't tried gaming.

I'll keep an eye out for this thing to run MythTV frontend. If it does that, I could move my current frontend to backend duties and dump the power sucking server.

Yeah, only the main Prime account gets the free streaming video service. The shared-with accounts just get the free shipping. The wife had bought Prime just for the shipping, so when we got the Roku I had her log in to Amazon.

I'm reading that the search feature works great, but only with Amazon content. If you look for a movie it tries to sell or rent it to you through amazon, even if you already have access to it free through Netflix, etc. That kinda sucks.

The voice search does only return Amazon content, but I know when I was browsing Amazon stuff there was a "other ways to watch this" button that would show the other places it was available. I would assume that shows up when you voice search too, but need to confirm once the old lady is not using the TV

I got mine today, the packaging makes it really clear they are competing with Apple TV. Wouldn't be surprised if Amazon developed an Android phone someday. The interface is really nice, everything is very responsive. It is very portable, which is also a plus.

I guess, atv will be dead soon? Fire-Tv allows "side-loading" apps. I can get plex connect on my atv2 without jail-breaking, but then I have to do everything through plex.

ATV won't be dead, pretty sure they'll release an updated one this summer. Might have games and live TV
