I went in to a Fry's Electronics to try out mice and keyboards when I built my PC last year. They had a ton of systems out on display with different peripherals, but the one I wanted to try wasn't out so they just opened a new product and let me feel it. Not sure if all associates would be that chill though.

A good number of big name manufacturers have the arrow keys exposed in the packaging so you can feel the keys and click them a bit, so if you're not looking for a very specific board you could probably test some out at a bestbuy.

If there's a Micro Center near you, you can do this there.

Got my brown switch keyboard last night. Definitely a different feel than my Razer green switch (ie: similar to cherry blue). Part of it is just the feel of the keycaps I think though. It certainly isn't quite as loud as my old one but my mic would still pick up keyboard presses when I was typing so not super quiet either. Expect I'll adjust quickly to it, now to figure out if it will fix some gaming issues I've had lately.

I use Box Royal switches in my latest keyboard. Before that I was using Browns.
