Greetings Alumni & Friends of the BYU Actuarial Program! With the completion of another school year, we hope you enjoy some highlights from BYU’s Actuarial Program:




Actuarial Internships
► We are excited to see the number of students obtaining internships continuing to increase.
► This Summer students will disperse throughout the country to work for over a dozen companies.
► We are grateful to those of you who have sent in notifications about internship opportunities at your firms.
► Students get a valuable glimpse into actuarial work on their internships and acquire analytical experience to talk about during interviews for subsequent employment.

Exam Progress
► The majority of our recent group of graduates had passed 2 Actuarial Exams, and we are seeing an increase in applications for exam reimbursement made possible by the Bruce Collings Actuarial Fund. Additional contributions would be greatly appreciated.
► We are continuing to focus on helping students begin the exams early in their college experience and structuring our curriculum to support them.

Alumni Connection
►Thanks again to a number of alumni who attended a student networking dinner this past Fall put on by the College of Physical and Mathematical Sciences. Students were able to interact with actuaries and ask for guidance with the profession.
► Our Actuarial Advisory Board meets twice a year to give input and provide recommendations for strengthening the program.

Next Steps...
► We are planning to apply to be recognized as an SOA Center of Actuarial Excellence. There are currently only 17 universities in the US with that designation. While we first turn in our application this summer, we won't have the final decision until 2017. We will keep you posted.
