Ultimately (and unsurprisingly) it comes down to what type of noise are you looking to cancel.

A quick google search turned-up this which may be informative.

I recommend a rearview mirror to accompany whichever headphones you choose.

It's a shame OP didn't ask about this during Prime Day, when the QC25 model went for $125! I'm still kicking myself for not taking advantage of that deal.

Thing is, I don't actually need noise-canceling headphones. In the actual space, they have some white noise machines and our group isn't all that loud anyway

I just put on my cheap headphones to look like I'm listening to something, so most people leave me alone (yes, sometimes I'm listening to something, but most of the time, I'm not)

Ever tried white noise, or pink noise? That article linked above says some people have found that to be surprisingly effective, especially in a situation like you're describing.

The main thing I miss, being in an open office environment, is the ability to flip off my computer when Excel crashes.

I mean, I could still do it, but that might be disruptive

maybe what i really need are these: https://www.rehabmart.com/category/privacy_screens.htm

Just fold one around me and I can flip away

My light-up cat-ear headphones are surprisingly noise cancelling.

I got them three years ago at full price. Well worth the investment. At 125 they are a steal.

I found a great use for the cable, the nextradio app uses FM frequency if you have a wired headphone connection. This is great if you don't want to use data to listen to the radio.
