Hey everyone,

Please vote on a day and a location by October 26 using the Google docs link below. Simply write your username under both the day and restaurant that you would like. If you have another suggestion, simply add it as another choice and vote accordingly.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...it?usp=sharing

I will then collect the votes and make the reservation. If a slot is unavailable for the winning location, I will choose the place with the 2nd most votes, and so on. If you will not attend, please let me know so I can get an accurate head count.

Please let me know if you're having any issues with the spreadsheet.

Thanks!

CS

I was looking forward to getting out to Vegas to (A) finally get recognized for ACAS [since I had to defer in the spring], and (B) crossing paths with some people here. Unfortunately, my employer decided (A) wasn't happening.

Which is why it's now a former employer. So, perhaps '19 in New Orleans for those who go there instead of Hawaii.

Has there been push-back from employers about the Hawaii meeting? I recall declining an offer from an employer when I mentioned the SOA meeting in 1998 (and I already had hotel reservations a few years in advance), and accepting another when it was determined that I could go on their dime.

I don't know what the general attitude is on it, I only know what I've heard from a few places and wouldn't say it's representative in any way. My prospective employer might be OK with it, given comments on other things; for myself, I wouldn't ask my new employer to pay for Hawaii unless I was getting recognized for FCAS (which I won't be).
