Have you played Ori and The Blind Forest? Not as hard as Super Meat Boy, but pretty tough. And the story is incredible.

How long did you have to spend playing just The Kid to get through? I don't know that I have the patience, and if I ever made it through part 1 I'd feel obligated to play until I finished. Feel like I need to set aside a day. Plus I'd be way out of practice now.

See now I want to play Super Meat Boy.

I imagine it'll be closer to the 6 for me.

A similar game to Super Meat Boy is Super Rude Bear Resurrection. I saw this demo'd at several gamescons, and even chatted to the dev a bit.

Super hard platformer, but with a twist. Every time you die, your corpse is left in the game, so it can protect you from spikes, falls, etc. If you pile up enough corpses, you can get past almost anything. It's on Steam, PS4, XBox and Switch.

The concept sounds interesting, but I'd be worried about every level becoming a grind. If it's not balanced correctly nothing would be challenging because you can just lounge through the levels repeatedly killing yourself.

A death tracker would solve that issue, set goals for completing the level with as few corpses as possible. That would turn it into more of a puzzle/platformer mix, I like that idea.

It does track deaths, but I don't remember if it has goals for having less than x deaths in a level.

The only decent games nowadays are Naughty Dog games.

played a LOT of AC: Odyssey this weekend. Like, easily 10+ hours. I'm still totally in love with this game. Every aspect of it is a lot of fun, and every quest I finish makes me want to take on 3 or 4 more.

some highlights of this weekend's adventuring (spoilered in case anybody wants to avoid it):

Spoiler:

- took down the legendary hind and bull. The wolf (level 36) is the next one on my list
- discovered the arena, killed a mercenary and a cultist there
- killed enough cultists to get my spear to level 5
- happened to score the Fanged Bow, where all damage is converted to poison damage.
that thing is OP and I love it.
- killed enough mercs to get to tier 4. I found it's super easy to wait for them in the sea, and just cleave their ship. you get all the loot without having to go hand 2 hand
- hit level 35
- story-wise, I met Myrinne and did the first set of quests for her. Now I'm on a mission to find my dad
