Default Actuarial program and internship opportunities

Hello, I'm planning to apply to Wisconsin for fall 09 semester. Can someone enlighten me on the actuarial program and the availability of internship opportunities there? Thanks

I'm a little late replying, so I hope this information is still of use to you.

Wisconsin's Risk Management & Insurance/Actuarial Science department is consistently rated one of the top 3 in the US. Unlike some other schools, the department is in the business school rather than in liberal arts, so outside of actuarial classes your education would have a large business and financial component.

Wisconsin has a very good career center, and the actuarial career fair attracted over 50 companies last year. Most people don't have any big problems getting a summer internship or full-time job.

May I know if this applies for MBA Risk Management & Insurance as well?

Default UW Madison questions

1. If you have passed an exam, are the courses relating to that exam waived?

2. How much do you incorporate SAS or other programming languages?

When I attended, no courses are waived, but you must pass a minimum set of courses to obtain your degree in the Actuarial Science major.

When I attended, only Excel was used, but other languages may be used like SPSS.

These are a little "aged" now since I have not been in school for a while.
