Default Discussion Areas for the new exams

Currently, the prelim exam discussion areas are available for only the old exams. New ones should be created for LSAM LTAM, BLAM, WHAM BAM, etc. Some of us might be getting an extremely early start.

...no response? Are we supposed to continue in the MLC discussion area?

I agree. There needs to be a re-org of the exams area. But, I believe only Tom can actually do it, and this isn't his full time job.

Anyone want to offer suggestions? I'm a CAS person, so I would have no idea how to organize the SOA side, or the Prelims, for that matter.

Also, what to do with the older threads? Create an archive? Figure out what goes where under the new structure? Thoughts to ponder.

There's been threads on this already. Just use the old corresponding exam forums for now. The new ones might be created sometime in 2022. When they're created, mods will move threads appropriately.

2022? is that a joke? whatever. as long as it's understood that LTAM discussion threads will be kept under the old MLC, creating a new discussion thread won't be under the threat of being superseded by a new LTAM discussion area but good grief why don't they just create new discussion sections? How hard can it be given the amount of traffic AO receives

*backspacebackspacebackspace* L-T-A-M, wow that was exhausting, took all of 10 seconds. And I thought I was Lazy(Bones).

The AO is not the quickest moving on these things. 2022 was hyperbole, but before 2019 would be shocking to me. Just make the thread in the most appropriate subforum. If the mods don't move it when they create the new subs, you can move it yourself.

Suggestions:
  • Rename VEE Finance to VEE Accounting and Finance (those are going to be similar enough)
  • Create a new subforum under VEE for Mathematical Statistics.
  • At the end of the year rename the VEE Applied Statistics as "Old Applied Statistics". (Applied Statistics & Mathematical Statistics are not going to be similar.)
  • Create new subfora under SOA/CAS Preliminary Exams for each of Exams IFM, LTAM, STAM, SRM, and PA. At the end of the year rename the Exams MFE, MLC and C fora with "Old" in front of them.

Tom, if you're going to be tinkering with subfora, would you be able to add some sort of
"Miscellaneous Education" subforum for people doing self-study and similar stuff? Like for the data science study groups and whatnot? Would be much appreciated.

What you really need is an obnoxious advocate for new sub-fora.

Maybe split out the prelims that only apply to one side or the other? I have no idea wht IFM, LTAM, SRM, or PA will be, but they won't be CAS prelims.
