Serious question:

The word b****** is censored on here, even though it can be used in a completely non-cursing manor. If we use various techniques to spell out "bastardized" or "ZOMG my level 3 barbarian final found the Regal Bastard Sword of Doom!!!!111!1!!1one" are the mods going to treat that as an offense? It's tricking the language censors, but it's a word that really shouldn't be censored in the first place.

Well, I lobbied to uncensor that word, so I will not be reporting your use unless you are using the word to insult other posters. I can't speak for the folks who decided otherwise.

(Of course, I also lobbied to uncensor "bitch" and "shit". So far, I don't think either has caused any problems, but others might disagree.)

Yes, I also lobbied for shit and bitch to be uncensored, as well as *******.

Shit got to be uncensored, because as a substring, it was showing up in inoffensive words and the censoring actually highlighted that substring. And looked ridiculous.

It took a while for us to get bitch uncensored.

It would be nice to be able to use *******. I like the word "*******ized" in describing various methodologies.

I think the best system is to not have any strong language censoring at all (outside of the professional areas of the forum), and then give the individual user the option to censor the boards in their personal settings. Default profiles to censor on, and there you go.
