I really like Weather Bug Pro. I dumped the Weather Channel's app for a it a while back. WB's map works a lot better, and the home screen widget has just the right amount of info on it.

Any other suggestions?

This is what I have:
Advanced Task Killer
AP Mobile
Astrid Tasks
Astro file
Barcode Scanner
Bonsai Blast
Dolphin Browser HD
Facebook
Google Maps navigation
Pandora Radio
Shazam
I use twitter a lot.
Opera is a useful browser because it is super super fast. Fast as both in downloading (it compressed data thru its man server) and fast in operation.
Any one of the flash light utilities is helpful.

I think an easy way for you to discover is to go the the market, click on Apps, -> All Apps -> top-free and start there.

More useful apps:
-Antennas
-Gmote (haven't tried it out yet, but pumped to set it up)
-imdb came out recently.
-GroceryIQ has "awesome" potential but I haven't used it yet.
-listen for podcasts (by Google)
-My Tracks for tracking running, biking, etc.
-scoreboard (by Google)
-speed test
-system panel ($3 or so but good for trouble shooting issues with battery, charging, etc)
-WiFi Analyzer
-UPS mobile is ok

Do you guys use any actuarial specific apps? Special calculators, note card/flash card apps, etc? I just got a Captivate and am enjoying my first smart phone experience!

I feel like I know what they can do but it's from a bunch of different sources, and I need to distill it down because she doesn't have the time or interest to look into it herself. Perhaps if I tell her that I can read the FAP materials anytime I have a few minutes to kill...
For the record, what sold her on getting smart phones was the ability to instantly look something up online to prove to me when I am wrong

Not exactly actuarial, but RPN Calculator gives you a real calculator to work with (like the HP 12C) instead of those wimpy things the exam committees limit the students to.

have you tried something like mspot, cloud syncing.
That looks a lot more promising and a lot less troublesome.

I won't know since I never sync my Nexus One to my desktop. I use Google services on everything and it is available whenever there is internet connect.

btw, have you add Google voice, it is perfect for mobile user

Do you like walking and texting at the same time?

this App is for you! It lets you type on the screen with camera turned on as the background.

+1 for Google Voice. Never listen to another voice mail.
