i don't know how expensive the kit is, or if you're willing to wait, but soon you'll be able to start the second batch from your own scoby. and yes, i agree that 96 oz is not enough when in the throes of a serious booch obsession.

So update on the booch: The original SCOBY I purchased was expired, but I tried it out anyway. The ph was off from the start, which caused an overproduction of the yeast, so eventually I bottled it and drank it, but it wasn't what I wanted.

I bought a new SCOBY from a better source and made another batch. My cats knocked that over after five days, but it had the perfect acidity and the SCOBY was thriving. Thankfully, there was enough liquid left in the jar, along with the undamaged SCOBY, to make another batch. I'm about to move to phase 2, with some added juice for flavor, which I'm excited about.
