Thumbs up Songs in which cover > original

Johnny Cash's cover of Nine Inch Nails' "Hurt." The darkness that Cash adds to this already dark song makes his cover amazing.

I don't agree that the cover is better than the original, but it is definitely a great cover. Cash also does a great cover of Soundgarden's Rusty Cage.

I like Living Colour's cover of Sunshine of Your Love better than the original (best I could find).

I also disagree with Johnny Cash's Hurt being better than NIN, but to each his own.

I like Blue Monday more by Orgy than I do New Order.

Oooh and I like Zero by the Smashing Pumpkins more when Evergreen Terrace does it.

Manfred Mann's Earth Band's cover of "Blinded by the Light" > Bruce Springstein's version IMO.

The Beatles' "Twist and Shout" better than predecessors.

Joe Cocker's "She Came in through the Bathroom Window" > The Beatles' original (and maybe his "With a Little Help from my Friends" is better - depends on the mood I'm in).

Wow. That's one song where I love the original and puke in my mouth when I hear the cover. As far as cover > original, I like "Landslide" by Smashing Pumpkins and hate it by Fleetwood Mac (really, I just hate everything by Fleetwood Mac).
