Default Exam 5 - the free preparation thread

This thread is for people who are preparing for the exam just using the free material offered by the CAS.

I'll start by posting the reference of that material:

https://www.casact.org/admissions/sy...x.cfm?fa=exam5

And then the PDF version of all the material bundled together:

https://www.casact.org/admissions/sy...ePDF-Exam5.pdf

Please correct my post if there are errors.

Can someone now post the free sample exams and all free problems?

Anyone with advice?

Should we first read all of the material and then do practice exams?

Or should we do practice problems after each section/chapter?

Really hard to hunt and peck for exam problems applicable to each chapter. Maybe there's a mapping out there somewhere...?

I'm not 100% going free because I have some old materials left over from several years back, but I am not paying for any TIA courses etc. so don't have a full study guide suite at my disposal. Will definitely be watching here closely and sharing anything I find!

I attached this in the Spring 2020 thread but also applicable here - a Word version of the syllabus. Easy to import to Google Docs if that's your jam. I've been filling it out with notes as I'm studying.

There's also a few Quizlet decks of flashcards available that I've found:

http://www.howardmahler.com/Teaching/5.html

Has first 300ish (of 2000) pages of Mahler's study guide as well a few other goodies.

The sample of the study guide includes a mapping of historical exam questions to his sections of the guide. Might help isolate problems for specific topics.

I've read both of the papers a couple of times --- I'm going through The Infinite Actuary seminar now then I'll follow up with practice exams.

Does the TIA have practice exams after each video?
