Yup, plus both franchises haven't won the Stanley Cup before. Will be rooting for either west team in the final.

Fun fact I didn't know was that the Blues have played in the Cup final 3 times (their first 3 seasons in the NHL 67,68,69) and got swept each time. I also forgot that they actually lost to the Sharks in the 15-16 conference finals 2-4 with the Sharks losing to Pittsburgh.

Sharks got big assist from no call on the hand pass on game winner.

Sharks fans will tell you the Blues got big assists on the delay of game non-call on Perron in the 2nd, the penalty that set up the Blues PP goal that shouldn't have been called, etc. so either (1) the non-call on the hand pass for the GWG was justified, (2) it wasn't a hand pass at all [which is totally incorrect], or (3) they won and everyone else can STFU and quit complaining.

I'm nominally a Sharks fan. I'm rooting for them to win the Cup.

I say nominally because I only switched over to the Sharks after the NBA Eastern Conference finals ended so caught the overtime. I'm not a big hockey guy.

Looked like a clear hand pass on the GWG.
Doesn't mean they wouldn't have won anyway but that one looked pretty clear even to me.
Call me a bandwagon guy - it fits.

#1 would be a deeply flawed argument, but #3 seems legit. I don't know how all the refs missed that, but these things happen, and with Toronto being unable to overturn it due to rules, nothing to do but move on. Good thing this was in relatively mild-mannered STL, this could've started a riot in some cities lol.

2nd period was especially fun to watch as a neutral observer.

All 4 officials from SJ/STL Game 3 are done for the playoffs.

Boston d. Carolina 4-0 to sweep the series and advance to the Finals, where they'll host Game 1 against TBD. I'm not sure I see anyone stopping the Bruins - well, except for potentially the referees if San Jose advances.

Islander sweep 1st round and swept in 2nd round by Hurricanes
Hurricanes sweep Islanders in 2nd round and swept by Boston in 3rd round
Boston sweeps Hurricanes in 3rd round so using forecasting that means Boston will be swept in the Stanley Cup Finals. right?!?!?!?!?!?

I should root for the Bruins on the "home team" principle, but I just can't warm up to their style of play. Pretty much every team I had an interest in has wiped out. Nothing against San Jose or St. Louis, but I just don't care much about them one way or the other.

So I'll half-heartedly support Boston because it would make so many people happy around here, but mostly just .

Totally down to see the pattern of sweeps continue but against Boston this time. That being said, seems very wishful to think Boston won't win a game. Imagining them having pretty decent odds (at least relative to hockey odds) to win the Cup vs either Blues or Sharks once the Western Conference is decided.

Blues put the Sharks on the brink with a statement win in San Jose. Sharks have won on 7 games for both rounds so far though, will they be able to force a 3rd?

Still really surprised the Canes got swept by the Bruins, was pretty unexpected as I thought it would be a longer series. Rask definitely showed he was step above the Carolina goalie tandem though.

Really don't want Boston to win, rooting for either of the West teams to win their first franchise Stanley Cup.
