Comparing Timmy's & McD's coffee feels a bit like choosing Cinderella's friendlier stepsister, Señor Pato.

Missing chains that I enjoy:
Chock full o' nuts (although they're dying) (NY? Northeast? )
Timothy's (Canada)
Second Cup (Canada)
Country Style (Canada)
7-eleven

These days when I don't get coffee at home or at the office, I get it at 7-eleven. Very good coffee actually.

US McDonalds coffee still sucks, imo. Canada fantastic.

I love Starb's (as my kids call it) but it is too damn expensive. $6 for a cup of coffee (even if it is a delicious PSL) is too much.

So it is a rare treat for myself to get a Starbuck coffee. About once a month or so.

And their food is bad. It's just microwaved crap.

Second Cup and Country Style should probably be on the list.

I can't tell if Cock full o' Nuts has any stores still open.

Timothy's is smaller. According to wiki it used to be second largest behind Starbucks but 9-11 ruined that somehow. 40 stores now.

7-11, while delicious is a convenience store.

Starbucks for me due to proximity of of their location. Honestly, I don't understand when people complain that Starbucks is expensive. I get my latte from Starbucks from time to time and it's ~$4.20 even after the $0.80 surcharge for milk substitute. Every other independent coffee shop here will charge at least $4.50-$5.00 for a latte.

Though I do wish that they would stop charging for milk substitute. I know Whole Foods and Argo Tea don't charge extra and I'm sure there are other places too.

Peet's has excellent coffee, and might have gotten my vote, but you listed Caffe Nero. Caffe Nerro has excellent coffee, and also has comfy stuffed leather chairs, and a fire place, and quite decent food. Caffe Nero is just a nice place to hang out while enjoying a good cup of black coffee. Or a nice cappuccino.
