yea, i wouldn't have expected them to split a county, I'd assume that would basically force the county to split as well. although i guess they could attempt to run it as one county, but it would seem difficult with 2 different state governments over the top.

Back to the original topic, reading what I have, it just doesn't seem like it would be wise to split the state into 3 parts. the cost of doing it just seems like it would make it infeasible.

I'd assume the 3 states would basically just take the current CA constitution/statues/laws/etc until they have an opportunity to review and decide if they want to go in a different direction. Insurance Regulation would probably be on the bottom of the list of things to worry about. I'd almost think they'd probably keep the task centralized between the three states until such time each individual state is able to carry it out on their own.

His proposal actually was for the light blue area to be called South California and VA's proposal was to call it East California. But since that piece does border the Pacific Ocean down by San Diego, VA's proposal to call it East California would mean that a state with "East" in the name would be on the west coast.

Maybe I can look at that next week but too busy to look up every county in CA's population & party lean, compare it to the map, and calculate an average for each proposed new state. It's easy, but time-consuming.

Yeah, I'm guessing that NoCal will come out Republican and the line was selected to give Republicans a slim (but not too slim) majority.

So it is basically gerrymandering Senate "districts".

VOTE AGAINST IT!!

Though I think more, smaller states is better. Then make states rights stronger and boom, everyone can be happy living in their own little utopias.

IIRC, one requirement for statehood is to have a constitution ratified.

If they're going to maintain status quo wrt their laws/legal structure, why is the split needed?

Well it is the farthest east of the west coast.
Regardless, my naming convention is better.

Agree, I like it better too.

ETA: Oh wait, I'm getting them mixed up. Yours was NoCal, SoCal and PoCal, right? If so,
