That may be, but it doesn't change the fact that the SOA should be ashamed of how long it takes to grade the exam, and should be actively working to decrease that time.

In my case, my "volunteering" was going to an SOA conference in 2017. Not presenting at it, just attending.

And I proctored an exam, but I'm not even sure if they're aware that I did that. I would have done all that stuff with or without the gift.
Nope. I just don't see anything wrong with the SOA spending some money on this - I wouldn't mind even if I were still paying dues. That was my only point.

Grading requires travel, as attendance at the grading meeting in [redacted] is mandatory to ensure grading pairs reach agreement on grades through every regrade round.

Writing can be done without travel (I've done it), as the requirement is just that at least one of each writing pair attends the writing summit in person to represent the writing team. Ideally all writers would attend but there's a little more leeway.

Do you just not like travel or have specific reasons you won't/can't?

Got my Member Recognition gift today.

I don't think I'll share a photo to Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram, though.

I got mine and had to sign for it, so I assume that means they're tracking the shipping. If you haven't gotten yours by next week I guess you could call them. Might be dependent on your distance from Schaumburg.
