Anyone have any difficulty with the first 8 chapters of ASM?
Just passed C, but I'm finding these chapters quite difficult...
Then again I remember feeling the same way for every ASM manual, takes some time to get used them again.
I'm on Lesson 11, and even though it's early I have to say that the material is definitely harder than the material in C. There are too many formulas and I'm not looking forward to deriving things on the WA portion.

Yep, I'm still slogging through Survival--seems to be taking forever. And it's just 1 of the 11 sections.

What's the go-to study material for this exam? I'm sitting for MFE in a few days and the ASM 10th edition manual was one of the worst purchases I've made. I'm hoping it's not like that for MLC as well but if anyone has experience with both I'd like to hear what you prefer.

Does anyone know if the 14th edition (2nd printing) of the ASM manual is updated enough for this sitting?

I used TIA for MLC. I thought that it prepared me very well as i passed the exam on my first try. I also used ADAPT which was an excellent resource for practice problems.

Yes I am definitely having trouble with the first 8 sections. I came onto this thread specifically to see if it's just me. There are a ton of formulas and you really have to be able to see structure in the given equations for mortality force, etc. since uniform distributions are often hidden.

I feel like it's taking me forever to get through some of these sections. Luckily my job is slow right now so I'm getting lots of study time, but I'm finding that it's been taking me around 4 hours per chapter in ASM, and I'm only getting some of the problems correct. Guess I'll just keep at it...
