I just don't want to see some dumb punk from some school like Penn state suddenly be handed asa when they couldn't pass the prelims to save their life.

I thought the course had an exam at the end that was supposed to be similar to the US/CAN ASA exams.

Some exams are exempted for Canadians, not all exams...
Also most Canadians (pretty much all from Waterloo and Laval) I know are Exam superstars. They know about UAP, but wrote preliminary exams anyway lol

Each course in the curriculum will have a final exam, yes. Just like regular college courses.

I don't think that was what you were asking, so here goes:
http://www.cia-ica.ca/membership/uni...for-candidates

Quote:

The CIA grants UAP credits to candidates for the following Society of Actuaries (SOA)/Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) exams: FM/2, MFE/3F, MLC, LC, and C/4.

No credit is available for the Probability Exam, or Exams ST and S of the CAS.

Candidates pursuing Associate (ACIA) and Fellow (FCIA) designations of the CIA will be required to complete Exam P/1 as well as the Fellowship exams, modules, and other CIA eligibility requirements.
They do need to take a few SOA/CAS exams and modules if they want to get ACIA or FCIA designations.

Out of curiousity, do you have an idea about relative proportions taking the exemption route as opposed to the examination route?l
