We're supposedly strict about work hours, but no one actually monitors it best I can tell in any department I've worked in. That being said, I've never had any issues getting my work done as some others have, so it could just be me.

More like 7 hours... maybe 6 if you're lucky.

Many teams (like mine) don't keep track of your hours, as long as you get your work done. You're paid to provide value to the company, not to sit at a desk for a fixed amount of time per day.

Reminds me of when I was in Grad school asking for a couple days off during the summer to see my now wife...

...and my mentor responded. This isn't a 9 - 5 job, it's a 5 - 9 job aka 5 am - 9 pm job.

That one statement changed my life drastically lol.

Teams might not but some companies micromanage the turnstile data and take away the teams' freedom to not do that.
