I'm currently looking to relocate to the Los Angeles area, as my significant other will be starting a position with the UCLA School of Medicine shortly. I've only been working in the actuarial profession for 4.5 years, so I'm looking for companies that would have more than just a couple entry-level positions in their office. Would anyone from your club be able to share with me some good companies to pursue? I'm applying from the other side of the country, so I thought it wouldn't hurt to check in with the locals. Perhaps some of you have had internships with good companies in LA?

Thanks for your help.

What area do you work in?

This may be better suited for a recruiter. In consulting, Towers Perrin, Watson Wyatt, Mercer, Oliver Wyman, Aon, and Deloitte all have LA offices. Hewitt has a Newport Beach office. Wellpoint has offices near LA as does Healthnet and United Healthcare has an office in Cypress. Transamerica has an LA office. There's also Farmer's.

Just some off the top of my head. There may be more in the area too. I hope this reply didn't come too late.

Hi Andy,

Is the UCLA actuarial club still meeting? I am also an UC Alumni (from Berkeley though) and I tried to find group interested in actuarial science in Southern Cal.

Is UCLA Actuarial club meeting anytime this semester? How can I get on the mailing list?

We're having an info session in a couple of weeks from a life insurance company. If you PM me your e-mail, I'll add you to the mailing list. I can send you more details.

I wasn't quite a member the Actuarial Club when I was an undergrad, is this open to Alumni? I am a proud alumnus, but am in the P&C field.

Hi Andy,

I'm a UC Irvine alumnus and I'm looking to network with actuaries in california. Any chance of getting on the mailing list?

Hi, Andy.

I'm currently a college student in one of the east coast colleges
and trying to relocate to LA area since it's my hometown.
It would be greatly appreciated if I can be on the mailing list of your club.
Just getting to know what kind of company is hiring in LA would be extremely helpful.
