Default GWL Eliminates 1500 Jobs (Canada)

http://insurance-journal.ca/article/...-of-1500-jobs/

1500 jobs, like half the population of manitoba isn't it?

I'm going to guess not too many actuarial folks affected?

According to the actuarial directory, there are 59 SOA members in GWL in Manitoba and 8 in Ontario.

So in Manitoba there's GWL and Wawanesa. And I don't think Wawanesa has any life actuaries. If they do, it'd be like 1. I mean fer crying out loud, it's Manitoba. So if actuaries are getting chopped they're probably going to have to relocate.

There are also 60 at London Life and 25 at Canada Life (according to the directory). Both of these are subsidiaries of GWL, I wonder if they're affected too?

edit: That's London, Ontario for those not in the know.

After the directory started requiring race to make updates I think the data has become stale, I would wager there are, slightly, more FSAs in the province than that.

No, they don't require it.

I just logged in and de-sexed myself, too. (it's painless!)

On the "required" fields you can choose "Prefer not to provide".

I did provide a picture, so if someone wants to classify me based on looks, they are welcome to do so.
