I have an Amazon Echo. The first review you posted said that this Google Home was "better" but that it also doesn't have a lot of smarthome support/connectivity yet. I know that we don't fully utilize our Echo...more of a gimmicky thing at the moment for us. So, I'm not planning on replacing Alexa any time soon.

Easy enough to set up. (My router needed reset, but that's not Homey's fault.) Works fine to play music, podcasts, and to shoot Youtube over to my teevee. Might end up using Cast o the phone more often, just because it's often nicer to pick stuff from a screen by tapping than to a mic by talking. (E.g. I can tell Home to play a certain podcast or a certain Youtube channel, but picking a particular ep seems either trickier or not (yet?) possible.)

Sound quality is quite nice. (I'm no 'phile, just comparing to my phone and lappy speakers.) Plenty loud, too - in typical conditions I don't think I'd go over a volume level of 6 (out of 10, selectable by voice command or by finger swirly on the device itself.)

(Phrased ambiguously, but I take it to mean that only the Home unit will answer, and will communicate with nearby phones to tell them "you dudes chill, I got this".)
The keyword "Hey Google" triggers only the Home. I'll try the standard "OK Google" now.

...

Yuk. "OK Google, remind me later to Yadda Yadda" triggers both my phone and the Home. The phone pops up text saying "Answering on another device" and the Home replies "Sorry, I can't set reminders yet".

I'll try "navigate", which, in the best of all possible worlds, would be recognized as something that the phone, and not the Home, should react to.

...

Gah. Same "Answering on another device" on the phone and "Sorry, I don't support Navigation yet" on the Home. Manually triggering voice on the phone works fine, but, yeah, not a success here.

"Hey Google, add such and such to my shopping list" gets an affirmative response. But it created a new Keep note called "Google Assistant shopping list" rather than adding to my existing note "Shopping List", to which I've added plenty of stuff by voice from the phone.

When playing music, "Hey Google what song is playing" gives me song and artist, which is nice.

But "Hey Google thumbs up (or down)" just gets "Sorry, I'm not able to do that."

"Hey Google next song" works fine.

My kids figured out that they can ask Home to play Mad Libs. Oy.

So I have a new second-favorite rap song.
