Default Getting first name changed.

I'm getting my first name changed legally. The SOA won't change the list of passing candidates, so I'll have Exam P under my old first name while the others will be under my new name. How do I explain this to future employers? Am I going to have to make a not on my resume because I heard that employers check the lists of passing candidates to verify?

I believe you can show former names on your profile. I don't know why an employer would go through all the olds lists of passing candidates looking for your name rather than just looking at your profile. Many people have changed names, often women who are married.

Hmmm, the directory only shows designations. Your transcript would be fine though.

Retaking P under your new name is the only way to make sure employers will not throw away your resume after looking up all your exam passes.

This.

IME, they just ask for your pass slips or transcript from the SOA site if they need proof. That generally wouldn't be needed until they are making an offer.

No.

But you might have to address the question about the name change . . . but agree with Ducky that people will just look at your *current* profile to see which Exams you have credit for.

Conversely, pass P again, and sell your old identity to someone looking to take exam P. That's your profit.

Serious answer.

I assume you'll have paperwork related to the name change. I think if you can demonstrate that you've passed other exams, it won't be hard to convince them you passed exam P. I wouldn't sweat this at all, you're good to go.
