FWIW I use both, pencil for calculations and pen for lists. Both of both worlds IMO.

Does anyone highlight? I'd love to use highlighters on the questions (not during read through, of course) and maybe to highlight answers in calculations, but I'm extra paranoid that I'll be DQ'd if I do.

Pencil & eraser team

I tried practicing with pens but for calculation problems I found it annoying. I understand you can just strike whatever mistake you make but I always ended up with some wrong number/formula squeezed in the middle of a table or tight space and unable to recover from it due to lack of space. Just so much easier for me to just quickly erase and write again.

Also my writing is awful so in the last minutes I go over my answers and re-write a few unreadable words. I'm pretty sure it's harder to read when I write with a pen, so that helps as well.

Just curious, does everyone get both days off for the exam? I asked, people said they would get back to me, they never did. So I am just taking both days. My boss thought it was fine, and that was good enough for me.

Definitely taking both days, but it's in our policy. The only way I'd even think of coming in is if the second day was the morning session, and I was slammed with work.

I've worked half days on exam days before, but not at this job. Even at my prior job it was rare.

My exam location is two hours away, so I'm taking Tues-Thurs off for the exam (traveling up Tuesday afternoon) and staying up there. Could technically go in to work between the exam sessions since we have an office in that city, but I have no desire to.
