Depends on if you'd rather be a hammer or a nail.

Would you rather I have a bottle in front of me or a frontal lobotomy?

Would you rather endure icy cold temps for one minute followed by nine glorious minutes in a hot tub or spend ten uneventful minutes at room temperature?

Would you rather have $1 with certainty, or a 0.0000001% chance of having $1B ($0 otherwise)?

Would you like to swing on a star
Carry moonbeams home in a jar
And be better off than you are
Or would you rather be a mule?

Apparently the former whenever I visit my father's place in SoCal. Guess I wouldn't say "icy" but it does get pretty cold at night, especially when I'm in a swimsuit warming up the hot tub.

IMO, getting cold makes that first dip into the hot tub that much nicer. Ahhhh!

Metaphorically was getting at "would you rather go through some short period of hardship/toil to get to an improved situation/reward or just coast along status quo (no hardship/no reward)?"

That pretty much describes my career, though these days I prefer the status quo of my donkeydom.
