I've seen bits of it.

Also, "work for yourself" is a cop-out in this situation, IMHO. Doesn't address the issue with the standard American work week, I don't think.

"It advocates hiring virtual assistants from developing countries such as India and Philippines to free up personal time."

So, basically, take advantage of others' unfortunate situations to make your own better.

It'd been a while since I'd seen any bits of it, so I skimmed the rest of the Wikipedia article.

Conclusion: Likely no different than any other management-philosophy book. They all seem like the same shit.

I'm unclear how NOT hiring them makes their situation any better.

Wouldn't Doctors, dentists, "bankers", realtors and all those others now be open shorter hours instead of M-F 9-5? Or does the shorter work week in your idea not apply to them?

I'm thinking something like a flexible amount of time within the standard week. Should be enough to keep the needed businesses going while one employee might be gone. Not the easiest to implement, sure, but also not totally infeasible.

This is, of course, assuming # employees >1

Yeah, the first think I think of when I see the "Made in Cambodia" tag on a shirt is "Wow, gosh darn it, if it weren't for this company, this 12-year-old wouldn't have a job. This clothing-maker really deserve a pat on the back for making the world a better place".

You can always follow the example of the guy in the story below and outsource your job.
