A year ago in KC, TWC was offering 100MB internet stand alone for $89.99/mo. If you added cable onto it, it was closer to $150. When I disconnected from TWC and went to Google Fiber, I started getting all kinds of calls from TWC, they wanted to give me standalone 100MB internet for $59.99/mo or internet + cable for $104.99 - plus a $300 gift card.

Of course, I told them to go **** themselves, they've been exploiting everyone for the past who knows how many years, I'm not about to give them business now that they actually have competition.
what level of GF service speed are you using and what are you paying?

Based on this news, I'm thinking I'll call Comcast soon to see if I can negotiate a cheaper package now. I'm still planning to switch to Google Fiber when it becomes available, but I might as well see if I can get a better deal in the interim.

Good for you. I did the same with DirecTV and I am only holding on to AT&T until my Fiber service is up and running. I don't care if DirecTV offered me everything for $10 a month. They already pulled one bait and switch on me and that whole fool me twice thing...

Yeah. And the DVR can record up to 8 shows concurrently and has a 10TB harddrive. The "basic" TV package is pretty ridiculous, too:

I signed up for the 1GB + TV but now I think I am going to drop the TV since I can stream everything. Do you know anyone that has used just the base internet? Is it even worth it or should I just spring for the 1GB?
