My Series 3 HD box lasted 5 years - so I practically doubled the breakeven age of the lifetime service. And my S3HD box didn't die - I just replaced it with the Roamio

I have a Series 3 HD since 2009.

How much did you pay for the box + lifetime subscription?

If I get a Roamio, I would probably sell the Series 3 on ebay.

I got the Roamio Plus - which is $399.

Lifetime service is $499, but since I'm an active TiVo subscriber, I get a "multi-service" discount on that, which is $100 off. I also added the $39.99 3-year extended warranty; sorta of as just a hedge to guarantee my box lasts past the breakeven date to justify the Lifetime service.

I have to look into selling my S3 box. I didn't wipe everything off of it before unhooking it though. I kinda can't imagine a S3 box would sell very well today...but I could be wrong (I haven't checked).

I just looked on ebay. Sold listings were aorund $275.

If I can net $200, I would be pretty happy.

Here's my lamebrained idea:
1. A pair of recliners connected, but they recline in opposing directions.
2. Two TVs on opposite walls.
3. Headphone jacks connected to the recliners.

There. Now, my wife and I can watch TV in the same room instead of watching TVs on separate floors.

I'm kind of surprised that our setup isn't more common.

I would hate to have to put on headphones to watch TV or play video games
