Default Stranger Things

I had never heard of this until today - but a lot of people seem to be raving about it. Anyone watched any of this yet? Please no spoilers! Just wondering if it's good in your opinion and if it's comparable to any previous shows (like maybe X-files?).

Think ET meets the River subplot of Firefly. Def not xfiles, much more serialized as opposed to episodic. I like it so far.

WHO SAID FIREFLY??? ::crowds come rushing::

Sounds pretty cool though, and need a new show to watch. I think I'll be checking this out.

add Goonies, Poltregeist, and Close encounters. the more i watch, the more it feels like a homage to/pastiche of 80s spielberg.

I'm enjoying it so far. It's well done mystery designed to keep you watching. I do think the pacing is a bit too slow. Like they're stretching 45 minutes of show into 55.

Finished it in one day (last Sunday).

Loved it.
Thought I was going to hate it because of the focus on the children, as that normally is not my thing.

The girl was much better in this show than her prior performance in Intruders.

i am five episodes in, and i haven't felt like the pacing was slow. i think anything quicker would, to me, feel rushed. i think the characters are all fun to hang around, might be part of it. if they were less well conceived, maybe i might want to get through it quicker

Yes, definitely has that awesomeness from the 80s. I'm through the first 6 episodes and while it's definitely not original, I find it pretty entertaining.
