Default Ubuntu 20.04

Anyone upgrade to 20.04 yet? I upgraded from 18.04 and I'm really liking it so far.

It's very slick...and fast.

I was thinking of waiting till July for the point release so that any issues are fixed, but I might go ahead if I have some time on a rainy weekend.

Do you have any specific "likes" about it?

Yeah I tried force upgrading from 18.04 without wiping the hard drive but that led to crashes and broken packages, so I just did a clean install...maybe I should have waited until July.

So far it's very fast. And certain bugs seemed to have been fixed too, like launching pulseeffects used to disable the volume slider and now it doesn't. Other stuff has been upgraded to modern libraries, like it comes with Python 3.8+ now and I would assume many of the dependencies have been updated too.

This is my main concern. I spent 5 hours getting everything set up and running (I use it almost entirely for ripping and encoding movies for watching on an HTPC and it does that without any problems. If it was my daily driver, I'd probably go for it. As it is, I just remote into it occasionally when I have new movies to add.

I installed 14.04 along side windows on an old dell laptop. It does exactly as I wish at this point. It runs the free version of word and idles. I want to use it for email, word, and web surfing. It is faster than a newer windows laptop that I have.
It comes with firefox, but I didn't see an email client. Any favorites that you have, Ahow, Colonel?

I think newer versions ship with a client called thunderbird, but I haven't used it.

Things have been kind of buggy actually with 20.04, especially with the graphics since I have dual 4k monitors. They've been releasing daily patches for their graphics drivers though and things are improving.

I appreciate the feedback on 20.04. I brought the distro up to Bionic Beaver (18.04) and I'll stop there for now. So far so good, and I found thunderbird on it.

I switched to lubuntu 18.04 when my 10 years old machine doesn't run so well with ubuntu 18.04. just loaded lubuntu 20.04 on an intel compute stick today (intel atom, 2gb ram and 32gb emmc). sound through hdmi is working out of the box. still got the half second freezing issue with cursor. other than that, so far so good.
