NEW YORK, N.Y. -- The Drake men's basketball team, riding an eight-game winning streak, received six votes in the latest Associated Press Top 25 college basketball poll released Monday.

The Bulldogs, coming off a 56-51 victory at Iowa Friday, stand 9-1 to match the best start in school history.

Drake last was ranked in the Associated Press Top 25 on March 16, 1971, when the Bulldogs were rated No. 18.

Drake will open the Missouri Valley Conference campaign traveling to Wichita State Dec. 29 in a 7 p.m. contest

Creighton received four votes in the AP ranking as well.

Wow, this takes me back (as far back as someone who graduated in 2010 can go). I played in Bulldog Brass for the 2007 basketball season, and went to every game. It was the most fun I've ever had. We even made the Des Moines Register's photo section after we beat Iowa at Iowa.
