Nyquil-typing aside, yeah, that's how I feel too. It's not high quality sleep, but it's sleep. I have always felt pretty wary of sleeping pills. There are some not-great things that can happen when you take sleeping pills, especially if you're mentally ill.

Non-habit forming, non-gross tasting Melatonin with no "Do not take more than X in 24 hours" on the bottle just makes me feel more at ease.

what is melatonin? is it Nyquil?

I drugged myself up with Nyquil after being sleep deprived the first night of doing final assessment. Nyquil is great for sleeping. I also had a cold though. if not for the cold, I might have tried the sleep only formula of Nyquil. I think it's called zzzquil. is that what nelatonin is?

Melatonin is the pigment that makes your skin darker. I don't know why it would help anybody sleep, but being as how you're pretty pale, you could probably use some.

lol, Melanin makes your skin darker. Melatonin is supposed to be something that your body produces to tell you to go to sleep and theoretically taking it will put you to sleep (these claims have not been evaluated by the FDA).

I think zzzQuil is different, because it says it will put you to sleep and help you stay asleep. Melatonin just does the first one.

My gout's not serious. Mostly it's a bit of pain and a limp for a week or two every few months. If I had better sleep habits, I think it would be a lot less.
My depression is neither constant nor serious. It's usually just enough to drive my wife crazy the first couple of weeks after a semester ends.
My insomnia is fairly easily handled with youtube and/or a bit of self-discipline.

My intention was not to equate my troubles with yours. You're entitled and welcome to complain all you want. I apologize if I said anything that suggested otherwise.

Oh I guess something to just put you to sleep is better if you don't know in advance that you're going to have insomnia and it hits in the middle of the night
