Seems to me that there is more fine print than what is publicly declared.

More specifically, how long will be obligated to work for them before you can consider a (potentially more competitive offer from) a different company?


Also note their expected minimum requirements (emphasis mine):

  • Within 1 exam of FCAS designation
  • 5 years of P&C actuarial insurance experience
  • 3 years of pricing insurance experience
  • Expert knowledge in statistical analysis
  • Practical predictive modeling experience
  • Experience with modeling in R, Python or other 
modeling software packages
  • Intermediate experience in SQL/PostgreSQL or other database software packages

BTW, I can see Root entertaining someone with 2 exams left. But I'm sure that what they're targeting is someone with experience with a competitor and the "2 month" study period will satisfy most non-compete clauses that might be applicable to get this sort of candidate.
