Default Syllabus Correction

Hi everyone,

The SOA just announced an update/correction to the syllabus:
https://www.soa.org/Education/Exam-R...specialty.aspx

In Objective 4, the GHS 120-17 reading showed that it included the full article (last year, it had limited pages and excluded section 4.2.4). Now it appears that they accidentally left off those page numbers and exclusion, but it has been corrected and added back in. Here's what the updated syllabus shows:
  • GHS-120-17: HHS-Operated Risk Adjustment Methodology Meeting Discussion Paper Ch. 4 Risk
Adjustment Model Improvements (pp. 35-69 excluding section 4.2.4)

For anyone using TIA, I will get the materials updated soon to reflect this change. It's not a huge change, but it will remove one of the lists and a couple of slides from the video.

so wait, they said one thing and then changed it to something else? that seems like they're contradicting themselves which is a big no-no.

candidate SOA - the result of your exam and syllabus preparation is: FAIL

Anyone else find the ACA Risk Adjustment chapter of Duncan to be very biased?

Chapter 13 Medicaid here's how Medicaid works
Chapter 14 Medicare here's how Medicare works
Chapter 21: ACA here's 100 reasons the ACA risk adjustment is failing....."too little too late".

Having worked on ACA plans and now for Medicaid plans seems like risk adjustment is typically more equitable for exchange plans than MCO's. The real difference is the much large risk differential on the exchanges.

Rant over.

This may sound very stupid and ill-prepared, but where do you find documents like "GHS-101-14", GHS-103-14, etc.

I've been trying to find these for a while but haven't had any luck and have just been skipping over them. Googling them mostly comes up with the various study guides, and the syllabus. But other than the outline of them in my study guide, I can't find anything with actual content about them?

they're study notes that you have to order. the price is right though, they're a great value.

Oh. I thought those were sort of optional. Good to know (going to be a bit awkward since I already submitted all my exam expenses and such).

Thanks!
